That thing we talked about

Postby KadFlynn on Tue Apr 01, 2008 1:23 am

/dev/sda1 contains a file system with errors, check forced.
*running the check*
multiply-claimed blocks in inode 3473785: 6973595... Here, I just took some pictures. if you have trouble reading them, I'll type out everything that was written.

Alright, a little got cut off on the top picture, it says on the first line with the numbers an extra set. The line reads

/dev/sda1: multiply-claimed block(s) in inode 3473785: 6973595 6973597

This is not a missing file actually. What the system is telling you is that some sectors on the hard drive cannot be read properly or are physically damaged. You will have to reinstall the operating system. If after reinstalling the operating system you get this same message this means that the hard drive is probably failing and you will have to buy a new one. Also, could you tell me exactly what happened to the laptop?

what happened was my internet dropped out, and then my keyboard stopped working. This happens often enough to not be a matter of concern. I usually just reboot and it works fine. But this time, I did what a friend of mine told me to do as a tip....... I took out the battery for a minitue, and put it back in. That didn't work out so well, as you can obviously see.

So...... I'm probably going to have to reformat my harddrive?

Yes, you must reinstall the operating system now. Sounds like the hardware in your laptop is going bad.
